Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal and also a key player of Manchester United has grabbed the title of FIFA World Footballer of the Year 2008. Ronaldo prior to this have also won the European Footballer of the Year title. Ronaldo is the only Premier league player to win this award. He is followed by the Argentina's striker Lionel Messi and Liverpool's Spanish striker Fernando Torres.

FIFA on Monday in Zurich (Switz) presented various awards for the Football players and teams. FIFA Presidential award went to woman's football in recognition of it's worldwide development. Palestinian Football Federation was also awarded for maintaining their team and Organization even under critical circumstances.
